Damage from flooding in Moose Jaw last month is pegged at up to $7 million, according to a city report.
Floating ice crashed into two bridges during the flooding, which occurred between March 17 and 19.
The report says damage to the bridge on Seventh Avenue Southwest was extensive, and could be as high as $5 million.
A second bridge on the Manitoba Expressway also suffered damage, but there’s no estimate on how much repairs will cost.
In addition, the flooding caused significant damage to eight homes in the Moose Jaw River Valley, as well as the Wakamow Valley Authority office building and the River Park Campground building. Damage to private property is pegged at up to $100,000.
On Monday, city council passed a motion declaring a disaster in order to apply for provincial disaster assistance. Eligible residents and businesses impacted by the flood can make a claim for assistance.
