Don McDougall has been named the CTV Regina Citizen of the Year for 2013.

“This year, we honour someone who has spent a lifetime serving community organizations and assisting in the positive development of youth,” said David Fisher, vice-president and general manager of CTV Saskatchewan.

McDougall earned his bachelor of education degree in 1973, and was a teacher and school administrator before he retired from education in 1999.

“During his teaching years and beyond, his passion for sports and youth mentorship was prominent,” Fisher noted.

“He’s held executive positions with the Regina Rams football club, as well as with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.”

McDougall was a member of the game day production team from 1970 to 1999. He also sat on the Silver Broom special events committee, in addition to his extensive work with the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame and Museum and Sask Sport.

“Throughout his thousands of hours of volunteerism, Don has not limited himself to sports endeavors,” Fisher said.

“He continues to be an active member of several community charitable organizations and his ongoing dedication to youth mentorship is exemplified by his current volunteer service with Ranch Ehrlo.”

McDougall and his wife Jill married in 1970 and have two grown daughters. His brother, Ken McDougall, was the CTV Regina Citizen of the Year for 2009.
