A candidate for city council in Regina has launched a second petition against the stadium project as currently proposed..
Dawn Thomas, a candidate in Ward 9, failed to get the required 20,000 signatures in time for the August deadline to have the matter brought to a vote.
Now Thomas is trying again with what she describes as a “small army”. Her first foray for names came Friday evening at the Regina Folkfest.
The petition doesn’t oppose a new stadium, but rather the use of taxpayer dollars to fund it. It seeks a binding public vote on the matter.
Thomas says a lawyer has reviewed the petition and she is confident about its chances.
