A man has been charged with manslaughter after a Regina woman who was severely beaten died in hospital.
Mark Jeffrey James Severight, 38, from Regina made his first court appearance Friday morning.
Police say they were called to a home in the 2000 block of Edgar Street on Wednesday night. Officers found the seriously injured woman lying in the front yard.
She was taken to hospital, where she died Thursday night. Police have identified her as 48-year-old Elise Anne Cote.
Investigators believe Cote was with four other people when a fight broke out at the home.
The death is Regina's first homicide of 2012.
