The Regina Fire Department says nine fires have been started this year by careless smoking.
Firefighters say the blazes were all sparked by people disposing of their cigarettes in unsafe places.
People are being reminded to butt out in a metal container containing sand or gravel, instead of flower pots, peat moss or plastic containers.
