Regina police are doubling the reward for information in the case of Tamra Keepness, the young girl who disappeared in the city nearly 10 years ago.

The Board of Police Commissioners unanimously approved raising the reward to $50,000 at its meeting Wednesday.

“It means a lot,” Tamra’s father, Troy Keepness, said about the increased reward.

“It tells me the city police are still looking after this. It gives me hope.”

Keepness, then five years old, was last seen at her home in the 1800 block of Ottawa Street on the evening of July 5, 2004.

Since then, police have conducted hundreds of interviews and have received nearly 1,700 tips.

Regina Police Chief Troy Hagen said the case remains a priority for investigators.

“We remain hopeful that we can find her,” Hagen said.

“With doubling the reward to $50,000 now, we’re hoping and anticipating it may stimulate even more discussion in our community and elsewhere pertaining to her disappearance.”
