The Saskatchewan Roughriders have rewarded slotback Chris Getzlaf for a breakout 2012 season.

The CFL club signed the veteran receiver to a contract extension Tuesday.

Getzlaf, entering his fifth season with the Riders, established career highs last year with 60 catches for 1,071 yards and 10 touchdowns. Getzlaf was Saskatchewan's nominee for the CFL's top Canadian award.

The 29-year-old Regina native was selected in the fifth round, 33rd overall, by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2007 CFL Canadian college draft. The Ticats dealt Getzlaf and running back Corey Holmes for Jason Armstead on Aug. 19, 2007.

Getzlaf, who played his college football at the University of Regina, has registered 171 career CFL catches for 2,795 yards and 23 touchdowns.
