Three of the candidates in the race to become premier of Saskatchewan have said they promise to balance the operational budget for 2019, with implement a plan to reduce taxpayer debt by 2022 and not impose any major tax increases.

The pledge was organized by the Saskatchewan Taxpayers Federation who plans to use the pledge, to hold the candidates accountable.

"This is an accountability tool. I mean we took a lot of photos today. So hopefully if one of these men is elected premier we can put a billboard up that says 'promise kept' and if it's a broken promise we can put those on billboards too," said Todd MacKay, Prairie Director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

The new leader of the Saskatchewan Party will be elected on Jan. 27th, 2018.
