Travel not recommended for parts of Saskatchewan under risk of freezing rain
Travel advisories are in effect for parts of south and central Saskatchewan on Friday, with icy roadways and the risk of freezing rain making for dangerous driving conditions.
In an update around 6 a.m., the Saskatchewan Highway Hotline said travel is not recommended in the Rosetown area, including Highway 4, Highway 7 from Delisle to Fiske, and Highway 15, due to icy conditions and fog causing reduced visibility.
Environment and Climate Change Canada expects the fog to dissipate near noon in the Rosetown region, with a risk of freezing rain Friday morning and a 30 per cent chance of flurries.
Drivers are also being asked to avoid a number of highways south of Regina, where the forecast is calling for a risk of freezing rain with temperatures hovering just below freezing, according to Environment Canada.
Travel is not recommended on Highway 6 from highways 13 to 306, on Highway 29 from Yellow Grass to the Trans-Canada, and Highway 334 between highways 339 and 39 due to ice, according to the Highway Hotline.
