Two men are facing charges, including impaired driving, after police responded to separate dangerous driving complaints on a pair of highways near Regina on Wednesday.
Around 3:45 p.m., RCMP received a complaint of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 6 north of the city.
RCMP say the vehicle reportedly had front-end damage and was allegedly swerving into the opposing lane of the highway, prompting other motorists to take evasive action.
The suspect vehicle turned east onto a grid road after police spotted it on the highway. Officers followed the vehicle into the yard of a rural property, where the driver got out and ran behind a house. The 32-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene.
Lester Favel of Regina faces charges, including impaired driving, dangerous driving, driving while being pursued by police and driving while disqualified. Favel is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on Friday morning.
Shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP received another dangerous driving complaint, this time on Highway 11 near an overpass under construction between Regina and Lumsden.
Mounties blocked off the area, with the help of Regina police, and stopped the vehicle. The 40-year-old Alberta man behind the wheel was arrested.
Dwayne Jean has been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and driving while being pursued by police. Jean appeared in Regina Provincial Court on Thursday afternoon.
