Two men have been sentenced to 15 years in prison for killing two men on a northern Saskatchewan reserve last year.
Kimmy Bear and Carl Albert had been charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
William Ahenakew and Trez Sparvier-Scott were killed in a home on the Ahtahkakoop First Nation in November 2011.
Court heard Bear and Albert were drunk when they broke into the house. Ahenakew was stabbed with a sword and Sparvier-Scott was struck in the head with a dumbbell. The house was then set on fire.
A four-year-old girl who was in the home at the time suffered injuries from the fire.
A third man involved in the case, Dominique Ahenakew, was sentenced to two years behind bars after pleading guilty to a charge of robbery.
