One woman is dead after a two vehicle collision on Highway 21 just north of Maple Creek.

Maple Creek RCMP responded to the serious collision on Sunday around 8 p.m.

A 50-year-old woman from Maple Creek who had been driving one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. A 55-year-old man driving the second vehicle was taken to a Regina hospital via STARS with life threatening injuries.

There were no other passengers in the vehicles.

The area on Highway 21 was blocked for several hours Sunday night as the collision scene was investigated and cleaned up. The highway has now been re-opened, allowing for normal traffic flow.

Maple Creek Fire Department and EMS also responded to the incident.
