A woman is safe after she escaped from an early morning house fire near downtown Regina.

Fire crews were called to the house in the 2000 block of Halifax Street shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman who lives in the home escaped safely and was treated by EMS and police at the scene.

Officials say it appears the fire started in a nearby motorhome and the flames spread to the house.

Neighbours say they heard a loud boom, possibly from a propane tank that exploded, but that couldn’t be confirmed.

Firefighters were expected to be at the scene for several hours.
