The suspicious death of a young boy on the Kahkewistahaw First Nation has been ruled a homicide.

RCMP say results of an autopsy Friday showed six-year-old Lee Allan Bonneau sustained injuries that are consistent with an assault.

Investigators are working to determine what happened in the last hours of Bonneau’s life. Police have spoken with several people who were in contact with or would have seen the boy before the assault took place.

Bonneau was last seen Wednesday evening playing with dogs outside the Kahkewistahaw Education and Sports Complex.

He was found injured in a wooded area on the reserve later that night and was taken to hospital, where he died.

So far, no charges have been laid.
