A 12-year-old boy is dead after a head-on collision between a semi and a minivan.

Around 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, Milestone RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision east of Wilcox, Sask. on Highway 39. One passenger of the minivan, a 12-year-old boy, was dead upon arrival.

Six other passengers of the minivan were transported to hospital by Ambulance and STARS Air Ambulance with undetermined injuries. The occupants of the van included a 34-year-old man, a 33-year-old woman, a 37-year-old man, a 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy, and a 12-year-old girl. RCMP say all occupants of the minivan were from Ontario.

The driver of the semi, a 57-year-old man, was not transported to hospital after receiving minor injuries. 

Alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor at this time. Milestone RCMP conducted an investigation, with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist. RCMP say the investigation is still ongoing.
