Regina police have charged a teenage girl with a weapons assault after an incident late Saturday evening.

Around 11:40 p.m., police were dispatched to Dewdney Avenue and Montague Street to investigate a report of two females fighting. One of the females was observed with something in her hand which was believed to be a weapon, according to police.

Officers found a female victim who had been injured with an edged weapon. She was transported to hospital by ambulance and her injuries are non-life threatening. A girl was located a short time later and charged with assault with a weapon.

The 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, will make her first court appearance in Youth Court on September 13.
