Saskatchewan producers are slightly ahead with combining this year.

According the province’s weekly crop report, nine per cent of the 2016 crop has been harvested. That’s just ahead of the five-year average of eight per cent. Twenty-one per cent of this year’s crop is ready to cut.

Producers in the southeast have made the most headway, with 19 per cent of the crop in the bin. The southwest is close behind with 12 per cent combined. Six per cent of the crop is harvested in east-central Saskatchewan and four per cent in the west-central region. Both the northeast and northwest are sitting at three per cent combined.

Most of the crop damage this week was due to weather and diseases, including mould. Many fields are still soft, and access could be an issue in some areas.
