Home sales continued to cool in and around the Queen City last month, according to the Association of Regina Realtors.

A total of 265 homes were sold in the Regina area in September, down 28 per cent from a year earlier. That’s the lowest number of home sales so far in 2012.

For the first time in seven months, the total dollar volume of home sales fell below the $100-million mark, coming in at $79.1 million.

However, the average selling price hit a new high for the month of $298,501 – an increase of nine per cent from September 2011.

On average, homes were on the market for 35 days and sold for 97 per cent of the asking price.

The association’s executive officer, Gord Archibald, says federal mortgage financing rule changes that took effect earlier this year may have dampened demand.
