One man is in custody after fleeing Moose Jaw police on Sunday morning.

Police tried to stop a truck driving erratically in the Zero block of Fairford Street West around 1:25 a.m. Police say the driver fled, running a red light at Main Street North and continuing east on Fairford Street East at a high rate of speed. Officers did not pursue the driver due to safety concerns.

The truck was found shortly after in a vacant lot off of Caribou Street East outside of Moose Jaw. The driver was arrested without incident. He is being charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of a controlled substance. He was issued a 72-hour license suspension due to alcohol consumption and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

The driver will appear in court at a later date.
