A man who attacked a police cruiser with an axe during a traffic stop has been handed his sentence.

Kristopher Steenman was sentenced to three years, less 31 days for time served in custody.

On May 4, Steenman, rammed his vehicle into a squad car during a traffic stop west of Canora. Then he hit the car with an axe while yelling threats.

Steenman is prohibited from owning a firearm for 10 years and driving for three years.
