A man is dead after a fire on Saturday night.

Police were called to a residence the 1700 block of Connaught Street around 11:30 p.m. Regina Fire and Protective Services and EMS were also at the scene. According to police, the fire department was able to extinguish the blaze and EMS attended to a burned man. He was confirmed dead at the scene, police said in a media release.

The fire and death are being investigated by the Office of the Chief Coroner, the fire department and Regina police.

The deceased name will not be released until police have notified next of kin.
