Regina police are investigating the death of a man who was found injured in the city’s North Central neighbourhood Tuesday night.

Police have identified the man who died as 37-year-old Wilburn Albert Campbell of Regina.

Just after 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of an injured man in the 1300 block of Elphinstone Street, where they found Campbell collapsed on the sidewalk.

One neighbour described the scene as “horrific.”

"There was blood everywhere, it looked like he had been bleeding out," Marcia Reed told CTV News.

"The officers responded to him. It looked like he was unresponsive to me. It looked like he wasn't breathing."

Officers performed CPR on Campbell until EMS arrived and transported him to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say Campbell’s family has been notified of his death and an autopsy has been ordered to determine, in part, the cause and manner of the death.

Officers canvassed the neighbourhood for information and searched the area for evidence as part of the investigation.

Anyone with information that could help in the investigation is asked to call Regina police or Crime Stoppers.
