James Myers, the man accused of killing his mother in 2013, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Myers, also known as Woody Myers, was originally charged with second degree murder after his mother, Rachel Shepherd, 46, was killed in her downtown Regina apartment. Myers was 18-years-old at the time.

An autopsy showed that Shepherd died from blunt force trauma.

The prosecution described the relationship between Myers and Shepherd as distant. He spent time in foster care growing up.  The prosecution has recommended a sentence of 10 years, minus time served.

A sentence could be handed down on Tuesday afternoon.
