The Ministry of Justice has confirmed one staff member and one inmate were injured, and there was more than $100,000 in damage, after an incident at the Regina Correctional Centre.

The incident happened on Thursday night.

According to the ministry, approximately 13 inmates were involved in a riot in a high security gang unit, and an emergency response team had to be brought in.

The injured inmate was taken to hospital, but was returned to the facility Thursday night.

Four inmates have been transferred as a result of the disturbance.

The ministry says the RCMP is investigating and will determine if charges will be laid.

The government says they can’t disclose what was damaged during the riot because of the police investigation.
