The Saskatchewan Roughriders posted a record profit of $10.4 million for the last fiscal year, the club revealed at its annual general meeting Tuesday night.

Nearly 90 per cent of those earnings were generated during Grey Cup week in Regina last November, which generated a net profit of $9.3 million.

The Roughriders led the league in attendance for the first time in the team’s history, with $15.4 million in gate receipts.

The club also sold a record $13 million in merchandise, including $1.9 million in Grey Cup gear.

All told, the Riders generated a record $43.8 million in total operating revenue, up 26 per cent from the previous fiscal year.

The team said that increase was driven by expanded seating capacity at Mosaic Stadium in preparation of hosting the 101st Grey Cup game.
