SaskTel has expanded its LTE coverage to more than 50 towers throughout southwestern Saskatchewan.

It’s the first wave of towers to be upgraded as part of SaskTel’s plan to provide LTE coverage to 99 per cent of the province's population by April 2017.

SaskTel says LTE is 10 times faster than 4G, and will lay the groundwork for future network upgrades, such as the introduction of voice over LTE.

The Crown-owned telecommunications company has committed to invest over $300 million in capital in Saskatchewan this fiscal year and $1.4 billion over the next five years.
