Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for southeast Saskatchewan, including Regina, Yorkton, Estevan and Fort Qu’Appelle.

According to the weather agency, a major winter storm is expected in the area on Monday. The storm is moving into the area from the United States and is expected to bring widespread snowfall. Environment Canada says the area could see anywhere from five to 30 centimetres of snow. Blowing snow could also lead to poor visibility in open areas.

The storm is expected to last into Tuesday.
