While investigating a lead on a 19-year-old missing persons case, the Regina Police Service stumbled upon a modern day drug operation.
Officers were in the RM of Indian Head as part of an investigation into the 1997 disappearance of Patrick Thauberger when they found a marijuana grow-op, police said in a news release. The grow-op is described as “large,” with more than 300 marijuana plants.
Originally from Edmonton, Thauberger was visiting his brother in Regina when he vanished.
His brother, 74-year-old Joseph Thauberger, is facing charges of production and possession of a controlled substance.
Patrick Thauberger’s disappearance remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Regina Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
