The cost of parking on the streets of downtown Regina has doubled.
Starting Monday, parking at a meter will cost $2 for one hour and $1 for half an hour.
The city says the hike is the latest effort to get long-term parkers off the streets. Officials say metered parking isn’t meant to be used while people are at work.
Meanwhile, Impark has half a dozen properties it wants paved, but the city’s downtown plan calls for parkades.
A downtown transportation study suggests partnerships with the private sector to build elevated parking lots.
City council will consider that plan at a meeting scheduled for April 14.
