The man charged with second degree murder in the death of a four-year-old girl and the alleged abuse of a two-year-old girl took the stand today on Monday.

Kevin Goforth and his wife Tammy were the guardians of the two little girls when the four-year-old girl died in 2012, and the two-year-old was treated for severe malnutrition.

Tammy Goforth testified on Friday, telling the court that the girls had suffered from the flu for several days before the four-year-old died.

Kevin Goforth told the court on Monday that he worked 13 hour days during the time the girls were in his home. He said he didn’t know the two-year-old girl’s name for the first week the girls were in the home, but the four-year-old eventually told him.

He also testified that he never dressed the girls or changed their diapers, and he never saw the bedroom door tied shut. He also said he saw bruises on the girls, but never thought anything of it.

This is the third week of the trial.
