Man charged with murder, victim identified in southeast Sask. homicide case
RCMP have identified 28-year-old Brianna Hayes from Oxbow, Sask. as the victim in an ongoing homicide investigation in the province’s southeast.
As a result, police have charged 24-year-old Taylor Japp, also from Oxbow with second degree murder, an RCMP news release said.
Japp will appear in court in Regina on Monday, April 29, RCMP said in the release.
On Thursday, police said they arrested 27-year-old Tyler Shaw from Gainsborough, Sask. and charged him with accessory after the fact to murder.
Shaw made his first court appearance on Friday morning in Regina.
The initial investigation began when a potential homicide was reported to Carlyle RCMP on April 24.
Police said the body of an adult woman was discovered in a rural location in the RM of Moose Mountain on Thursday afternoon.
RCMP said they also searched the landfill in Oxbow as part of the investigation, but noted no human remains were found.
Police said they are continuing to investigate and are asking anyone with information about Hayes’ death or those who interacted with her between April 24-26 to report it by calling 310-RCMP.
Information can also be submitted anonymously through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
A GoFundMe page for Brianna Hayes has been set up to help the family with funeral costs and other expenses.
