The Newo-Yotina Friendship Centre has moved into its new location in the 1600 block of 11 Avenue.
The centre celebrated its grand opening on Monday. The celebration included a powwow, community barbecue and opening remarks from dignitaries.
The centre provides free weekly community programs and services, and serves as a safe space for people to visit with others.
It was previously located at 445 Winnipeg Street, but many people found it wasn’t an ideal location for people walking to the area. People visiting the new location said it was more accessible. Officials say more than 100 people use their services daily.
The centre plans to increase programming in order to help more people in the community.
