Regina teens make first court appearance in homicide case

Two Regina teens facing second-degree murder charges in connection to the death of a man on Boxing Day appeared in person at Regina Youth Court on Monday morning.

In accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the names of the 15-year-old boys cannot be released. 

During court on Monday, it was determined that the boys will remain in custody until their separate court dates on Jan. 13 and Jan. 20, 2025.

Their charges are in relation to the death of 30-year-old, Charles Thompson on Dec. 26, 2024. Thompson was found with apparent stab wounds by RPS, after receiving a call regarding a seriously injured man in the area.

The 30-year-old died on the scene after both police and EMS attempted life saving measures.

The two teens were arrested the following day and now face multiple charges, including second degree murder. The first boy is also facing one count of failure to comply with a release order.

The second teen is facing two counts of that same charge, in addition to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon.
