Saskatoon and Regina will soon be home to two more private liquor stores. Sobeys has announced a new liquor location in each city within the next year.

The new locations are two of the nine locations that were awarded to the company by the province as part of the move to open 50 private liquor stores throughout the province. Sobey’s currently has one location in both Regina and Saskatoon.

“Customers have responded favourably to the private store model and our offer from day one, and this is a fantastic opportunity to expand into markets where there is growing demand from customers for what our brand has to offer.” Brent Newman, Vice President, Liquor, Sobeys Inc. said in a written release.

The new Sobeys Liquor store in Saskatoon will be near the Sobeys Preston Crossing grocery store at 1741 Preston Avenue North and is slated to open in the fall of 2017. The new location in Regina will be near the Safeway at Southland Mall at 2965 Gordon Road and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2018.

Construction on both locations is expected to begin shortly.

Sobeys has also been awarded stores in Battleford, White City, Kindersley, Melville, Moose Jaw, Tisdale and Yorkton.
