Health officials have confirmed that 14 cases of E. coli reported in Saskatchewan are not linked to the massive XL Foods beef recall.

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region says it is still awaiting test results from a 15th case that was recently reported in the province.

Of the others, four have been tied to a home in Saskatoon, while another eight were linked to Flip Eatery and Drink in downtown Regina.

The restaurant has since passed health inspections and is expected to reopen later this week.

Officials say the source of the E. coli that sickened the restaurant patrons will likely never be identified.
