A Regina woman who was found guilty of killing a four-year-old girl and neglecting her two-year-old sister is appealing her conviction and sentence.

“I wish to appeal it so much of a heavy sentence (sic),” Tammy Goforth said in a handwritten notice of appeal filed March 18. “I wish to have a second chance of explaining myself.”

A jury found Goforth guilty of second-degree murder in the four-year-old’s death and unlawfully causing bodily harm to the younger girl. She was sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years.

Her husband Kevin Goforth was sentenced to 15 years for manslaughter and unlawfully causing bodily harm. He has not filed an appeal.
