Two people have been charged with defrauding an 80-year-old Regina woman of more than $37,000.

Police say a relative of the woman alleged the senior was being taken advantage of financially.

After an investigation, police arrested and charged a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.

It's alleged the two met the woman last March and offered to do yard work at her property for a fee.

Over the next several months, the two allegedly continued to contact the woman and ask her for money, each time claiming some sort of hardship.

Joseph Victor Desnomie and Cindy Lee Lacheur, both from Regina, have each been charged with fraud over $5,000.

The pair made their first court appearance Wednesday.
