A 19-year-old man is now facing charges after an incident at Chief Gabriel School on the Cote First Nation.

Police were called to the school around 9:00 a.m. on May 10 after a man pulled a knife on an employee before climbing onto the roof of the school.

The man came down from the roof around 10:30 a.m. and was taken into custody without incident.

The school was put in lockdown as a precaution.

Lloyd Norman Straightnose of the Cote First Nation has now been charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of uttering threats.

Straightnose is scheduled to make his first court appearance on July 18.
