Officials received a call Saturday evening advising of a serious collision between a cyclist and a vehicle on Highway 3, near the Muskoday bridge.

An 11-year-old boy was riding his bike with a group of kids along the side of the highway when he was struck and seriously injured.

He was transported to Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The 51-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene and charged with impaired driving. He is being held in custody awaiting his first court appearance in Prince Albert provincial court Monday morning.

No other youths were injured in the accident.
