The Conservatives’ Cathay Wagantall has secured victory in Saskatchewan’s Yorkton-Melville riding.

Wagantall won over the NDP’s Doug Ottenbreit, Liberal Brooke Malinoski and the Green Party’s Elaine Hughes.

The Tory candidate captured 59.2 per cent of the vote, while Ottenbreit was second with 20.2 per cent. Malinoski was third with 17.8 per cent, followed by Highes with 2.8 per cent.

Former Conservative MP Garry Breitkreuz, who had represented the riding since 1993, earlier announced he wouldn’t seek re-election.
