A former Estevan Comprehensive High School teacher was sentenced in relation to sex crimes in Estevan Provincial Court Monday.
Troy Ruzicka will spend five years in prison for sex offencescommitted against three teenage students, in addition to a charge relating to accessing child pornography.
In September, Ruzicka pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual assault, one count of sexual touching, and five counts of using telecommunication to communicate with someone under the age of 18 for the purpose of facilitating an offence. He also admitted to one count of accessing child pornography.
Ruzicka, 42, was charged in March following an investigation into allegations of inappropriate conduct by the Southeast Cornerstone School Division.
He was working as a shop teacher at Estevan Comprehensive School at the time of the allegations, and had been with the South East Cornerstone School Division for five years.
After serving his sentence, Ruzicka will be placed on the sex offender registry for 20 years.
