The 21-year-old man who was arrested for arson early Saturday morning will appear in court tomorrow. Andrew Suidak has been formally charged with arson after allegedly lighting his own house on fire.

Emergency crews were called to a fire on the 300 block of Coteau Street West in Moose Jaw around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The second story of the home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

Police and fire crews helped occupants leave the house before firefighters extinguished the blaze.

One occupant was treated for smoke inhalation, according to police.

Sudiak was identified by several other occupants as a suspect in starting the fire. Police investigation lead to his arrest at the scene and he was later charged for arson and remanded in custody.

The fire, which caused an estimated $70,000 in damage, did not spread to neighbouring homes
