A Saskatchewan health authority says 47 patients are being notified that they underwent the wrong types of MRIs between last October and this July.

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region says the patients received a non-contrast study, when they should have received a contrast study that would have provided more information.

It says the patients were referred in error to a community clinic that at the time did not have the ability to do contrast studies.

Doctors say they believe the risk to patients is minimal, but they won't know for sure if any harm was done until all cases are reviewed.
