A big shift is coming in how and where Regina residents get ultra-sounds, CT scans, MRI's, and X-Rays done.

An agreement between the private company, Radiology Associates of Regina, and the local health region is set to expire December 1st, and it is not at all clear what will happen after it does.

Radiology Associates claims the health region is ending the agreement and that no reason was given.

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region says they have been working with the company since May to come to a new arrangement.  The RQHR says the company was looking for exclusive rights to in-hospital work.

“We believe we can continue to improve the care provided to our patients by ensuring that the group of radiologists who have been granted privileges to provide in-hospital services remain the core of our relationship, and not any particular company or business,” said RQHR President and CEO Keith Dewar in a written release. “We know our practitioners share our commitment to our patients and we trust they will continue to work with us to ensure continuity of care as we move through this process.”

The dispute only impacts in-hospital services.
