The set of the Saskatchewan movie "Talent" is hoping to become the site of a new Guinness World Record.

Local hockey players are teaming up to try to play the world’s longest floor hockey game.

“I just love the game of hockey in general,” player Ben Wilhelm said Friday. “This is something that probably happens once in a lifetime.”

The game began at 6:00 a.m. on Friday morning and will run for 62 hours until Sunday at 8:00 p.m. And the players are in it for the long haul.

“I’m going to be here for the full game, all the way until Sunday night,” Wilhelm said.

Each team has 12 players, who will trade off every hour until the game is done.

“There’s no way I’m missing out on something like this,” Wilhelm added. “This is great, I love it.”

The idea for the world record attempt came from "Talent" director, and local filmmaker, Lucas Frison.

“I thought it would be really cool if my character in the film, if she was attempting to break a world record,” Frison said.

The film tells a story of Kaylee Stevens, a high school student trying to break a record as part of a fundraiser.

“She decides to combine her love of hockey with the fundraising idea,” Natalie Lazarou, who plays Stevens in the movie, said. “She finds this world record and can’t do a real hockey game. So, floor hockey is the next best thing.”

Regina’s world record attempt is separate from the film, but players might see themselves on the big screen.

“It would be a cool surprise to see their movie if we were in it,” Wilhelm said.

“I played 62 hours of hockey when I was a kid. That’s something to really remember.”
