Regina police have laid charges after a six-year-old boy was injured in an alleged hit-and-run collision earlier this week.

Police say the boy was hit by a car at the intersection of First Avenue and Athol Street on Tuesday evening.

The vehicle fled the scene immediately after the collision.

The boy was taken to hospital with injuries that included a broken leg.

Officers identified a suspect and arrested a 23-year-old man Thursday night.

Nash Eugene Cote has been charged with hit and run causing bodily harm and breach of probation.

Cote made his first court appearance Friday morning and the case was adjourned for a week.
