The fight against canker worms is officially on. City crews have begun spraying for worms, and in some parts of Regina, they’re already becoming a problem.

Spraying started at the Regina cemetery Tuesday morning.

City crews will also be spraying in North Central where canker worms and tent caterpillars have a higher concentration.

Roughly 1,500 trees in the area will be sprayed and when that's done, other areas of the city will be targeted.

The product used is an organic product that kills canker worms and tent caterpillars but is harmless to humans, pets, and the environment.

The spraying will take roughly two weeks depending on the weather and residents are encouraged to contact the city to find out when their area will be treated.
