RCMP say human remains found in a rural area northeast of Moose Jaw were possibly at the location for at least 10 years.

Officers were called to the scene during the afternoon hours on April 28.

The deceased individual has not been identified, RCMP said in a news release on Friday.

“This investigation, which will consider historical missing persons in the area, is ongoing and an update will be provided as soon as more information becomes available,” the release said.

RCMP added that searches will continue in the area, adding that people may notice an increased police presence.

Police said at this time they don’t believe the death was suspicious in nature.
