A 19-year-old man is facing charges in a house fire that claimed the life of a young girl in northern Saskatchewan last month.

The remains of 10-year-old Denasia Highway were found in the rubble from the Sept. 24 fire in Pelican Narrows.

Darryl Craig Sewap of Pelican Narrows has been charged with arson and criminal negligence causing death.

Sewap appeared in court Friday in Prince Albert. He is being held in custody pending his next court date Tuesday in Pelican Narrows.
