The City of Regina is warning of an email security breach that is sending phishing emails from a city internal email account.

The city says the account was compromised by cyber attackers on Tuesday — and may be sending email reminders with the subject line “E-reminder for ((PO-D201719) to city staff, as well as external groups and organizations. The email sends a survey link which can capture email addresses and passwords.

The city says not to open an email with this subject line or to change any password provided to the link.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has been notified and the city believes only one staff member’s email was compromised.

Anyone with concerns can contact Service Regina at 306-777-7000.
